Build Magazine’s Sustainable Building Awards are a celebration of the organizations or individuals that lead the way and set the best example locally in our collective bid to reduce waste and save energy. Buildings generate up to 35 per cent of all greenhouse gases, 35 per cent of landfill waste comes from construction and renovation waste, including up to 70 per cent of municipal water is consumed in and around buildings. With improved building industry practices our communities benefit from reduced construction waste, reduced energy consumption while reducing our carbon footprint.
The last few decades have seen a green construction market revolution and the evolution of environmentally sustainable building practices. Green building has emerged from a niche sector twenty years ago, to a key component of the Canadian construction industry today. Evolutions in technology, marketing and consumer expectations have driven vast growth, and provided many firms with the opportunity to showcase their creative flare and technical innovations.
BUILD magazine is publication made for home experts who design and build sustainable, energy efficient buildings and renovations. The Sustainable Building Awards 2019 aims to accentuate the tireless work undertaken by those individuals or firms and their dedication and desire to improve our building practices and end products.
